1. To start with, they're battery powered (each light requires 4 D batteries, not included). There's no electrical power supply where You need the light (for example at the front of Your garage), so their being battery powered saves you the trouble and expense of hiring an electrician.

2. They're also quite bright. If considering solar, but that area doesn't get enough sunlight to ensure a bright light. Each of these lights is powered by 4 D batteries, so it's comparable to a 4-D-battery flashlight... in other words, bright!

3. The passive infrared (PIR) sensor is *very* sensitive. The product description says that the light will sense motion 16 feet away, but after I installed one over my garage (see photo), One customer discovered that it was sensing passing cars, almost 40 feet away! This is where the flexibility in pointing the lamp was important -- it was a simple matter to point the lamp more toward the ground, so it only detects nearby motion.

4. Installation was straightforward. Just attach the base to something to support it (for example, beside the garage) with the 4 screws (supplied), put 4 batteries in the lamp, and then screw the lamp into the base. Changing the batteries will be equally straightforward -- unscrew the lamp from the base, replace the batteries, and screw the lamp back in.

5. This is a set of 2 lights. You may plan on using them both to illuminate your driveway, maybe only one will suffice and you can use the other one someplace else. we believe that you will like the flexibility of putting them almost anywhere you want.
