Wholesome Harvest Soy & Corn Free Layer Mash is a ground version of our layer feed made with a variety of Non-GMO Grains. This mix contains field peas, wheat, barley, oats, black oil sunflower seeds, and more. All Non-GMO and made at the Ernst farm in Clear Spring, Maryland. This is a complete diet designed to have everything a chicken needs to be in upmost health.
We add 14 different herbs and essential oils as well as a diverse blend of probiotics/prebiotics to all of our animal feeds.
Our laying hen mixes contain extra calcium specifically to meet the requirements of an egg producing bird.
Flax oil is an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids and helps to maintain feather condition.
Kelp is a natural source of minerals and vitamins.
Our feeds are more than just a ground mix of Non-GMO grains. They contain natural health supplements not found in other diets. Our layer mash is made with oyster shells, kelp, diatomaceous earth, probiotics, prebiotics, and flax oil. It also contains the following herbs and essential oils: oregano, cayenne pepper, arctii fruit, chamomile, cinnamon, coriander, garlic, ginger, ginseng leaf, mushroom extract, peppermint, pine bark, sage, and yucca leaf!
There's one downside to buying our feeds... once you give your flock our food, they won't eat anything else. Choose wisely.
We are the 7th generation to farm in Clear Spring, Maryland. We have been growing crops and making feeds for our own livestock for years. In 2018 we launched, Wholesome Harvest, a premium line of Non-GMO feeds with natural supplements. All of our grains are cleaned, milled, mixed, and bagged on our farm. Our goal is to make the highest quality of all grain feeds on the market.
Our farm was purchased in the early 1940’s by Frederick Ernst. It sets one mile east of the original farm that the Ernst family settled in from Germany in the 1800’s. We have raised animals and grown grains for many years in the Cumberland Valley of Washington County.
The farm is currently owned by Steve Ernst. Three of his sons: Josh, Jacob, and Micah are all employed by the business. Working together, the whole family and the team at Ernst Grain & Livestock are able to make these feeds a reality.
Many of the grains in our feeds are grown on our farm. We utilize green cropping farming methods with our Non-GMO grains. We focus heavily on cover cropping and no-till planting methods.
